Nursing at CHKD
Join Me at CHKD
In the three decades that Sandy Nabers has taken care of sick and injured children at CHKD, she has treated all kinds of patients, from toddlers to teens, and has covered a lot of territory, from bedside to management and back to bedside.
Nabers always knew she wanted to be a nurse. After graduating from the University of Virginia, she came to CHKD. Except for two short periods, she’s been here ever since.
What’s remained the same throughout her tenure, Nabers says, is her love of the children she serves and the camaraderie and sense of purpose she shares with her colleagues. "There is a real spirit of cooperation here. Our doctors are friendly and tuned in to kids."
She also loves that CHKD is a teaching hospital, filled with nursing and med students, residents and interns. "I like being part of the teaching process, and family education is very rewarding."
