Bio

Poston has been a pediatric nurse practitioner for over 10 years, working in pediatric asthma, allergy and immunology. In addition, she has clinical experience in pediatric emergency nursing and in pediatric clinical research. In 2012, she completed her Ph.D. in nursing at the University of Virginia and is now an assistant professor with Old Dominion University's school of nursing.

Poston assesses, screens, evaluates, diagnoses and treats children, striving to provide a comprehensive therapeutic treatment plan to include both pharmacological and non-pharmacological strategies, patient and family education, and appropriate referrals to other members of the healthcare team to improve health and wellness in children, with the help of their families.

Her goal is to help children and families clearly articulate their vision for living a healthy life by providing the necessary knowledge and skills needed to manage chronic conditions through cost-effective, ethical care that addresses the physical, emotional, cultural and environmental health of the child.
