Dr. Gifford grew up in California, knowing at an early age that she wanted to be a physician. She got a taste of dermatology as a patient in high school and was exposed to lasers and infrared applications during a summer research internship in Oregon. At Santa Clara University, she studied psychology, religion, science, and medical ethics.

Medical school and an internal medicine internship created the foundation of her medical knowledge from which to specialize; from this fundamental core she developed patient and family-centered treatment plans, remembering always to “first do no harm.”

Dr. Gifford completed a dermatology residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she learned the science and the art of dermatology by caring for the skin of our country’s veterans, a diverse and native patient population, adults, and children. She savored the variety of skin conditions, treatment options, procedures, and patient ages that each day held. Great mentors sparked her interest in pediatric dermatology.

After two years in private practice in Tampa, FL, Dr. Gifford returned to academics for a final year of training: a pediatric dermatology fellowship at CHKD. As a military spouse, she is grateful the stars aligned for this opportunity to expand her expertise and focus her practice on her favorite patients: children of all ages.

She enjoys traveling the world with her husband, capturing photographs of the wonders and culture they encounter. Having played a multitude of sports, she values fitness and activity, especially running, biking, and swimming. She is an avid baseball fan – Go A’s! – and can be spotted at many events – with a hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses. She loves baking, cooking, and craft time.
