CHKD's pediatric emergency specialists provide care to acutely ill or injured children at CHKD's emergency center, the region's only emergency facility just for children.
All of our physicians are board-certified in pediatrics and most carry a second board-certification in pediatric emergency medicine. They are assisted by nurses and various technical and office personnel, all of whom are trained to care for children.

Services We Offer
Children who come to CHKD's Emergency Center are cared for by a wide range of specialists - pediatricians, nurses and technicians - trained to understand and meet the unique needs of children. Our medical equipment is child-sized and our facility is warm and child-friendly to help ease fear and discomfort. Among the services we offer are:
- Lab tests
- Respiratory therapy
- Special minor-care hours for non-emergencies
- Child life therapy
- Observation beds
- Consultation with pediatric sub-specialists and surgeons
The division has an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited and active pediatric emergency medicine fellowship program that accepts two fellows per year. We also sponsor fellowships international pediatric emergency medicine and simulation in medical education.
