Dr. Upadhyay is a staff pediatric urologist with special interests in complex genitourinary reconstruction, including augmentation cytoplasty and catheterizable urinary stomas for neurogenic bowel and bladder disease, ambiguous genitalia, congenital hyperplasia and intersex states. She is skilled in minimally invasive laparoscopic kidney procedures and ureteral stones and is certified to perform daVinci robotic-assisted pyeloplasties for ureteral anomalies.
She graduated from the University of Michigan and received her MD from Wayne State University, where she also did her surgery and urology residencies. She completed a fellowship in pediatric surgery (in urology) at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Upadhyay held hospital appointments at State University Hospital of New York and several other hospitals in Syracuse before coming to CHKD. She has also served as consultant to the editorial boards of Contemporary Surgery, Journal of Urology and Journal of Pediatrics.
