Fawn Workman, FNP-C

"One of my career goals was to one day practice in pediatrics at CHKD and now that I've accomplished that, it is as emotionally and professionally fulfilling as I had expected."

College: Liberty University

Graduate school: Frontier Nursing University

Workman first encountered CHKD as a patient, then as a young parent, and now as a provider. She has been practicing as a family nurse practitioner since 2014 and as a registered nurse since 1999. Raised primarily in northeast North Carolina, she attended Northeastern High School and College of the Albemarle.

Early in her nursing career, she worked at a children's hospital in Cleveland. She later moved to Lynchburg, VA, working as a float RN in a variety of settings for 11 years. During her master's degree program, much of her NP clinical training was in the Outer and Inner Banks of North Carolina.

She  graduated in 2014, followed by a brief externship in the Indian Health Service and board certification as a family nurse practitioner. After moving to Hampton Roads to be closer to her adult daughter, she began practicing in a walk-in care for adults and older children.

Workman has been published as a contributor to nursing texts and guest lectures for a local university. She is currently pursuing advanced training and certification in mental health.

She has enjoyed connecting with others in local and international medical missions to Haiti and Jamaica, church fellowship and Bible studies, and learning sign language. If you listened to country in Elizabeth City in the 1990's, you may recognize her voice as a radio DJ on a former local station. Her two cats, Lucy and Boots, provide feline comic relief when she isn't spending time with her family, education, or patients.
