Exercising at least 60 minutes a day is one of the healthiest habits you can teach your children.

The many benefits of regular exercise include:

  • Stronger muscles and bones
  • Reduced chance of becoming overweight
  • Decreased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes
  • Lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels

Three elements of fitness are:

  • Endurance – Jogging, swimming, basketball, ice or roller skating, soccer, jumping rope, hopscotch, etc.
  • Strength – Push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, tug-of-war, rowing, running, skating, bike riding
  • Flexibility – Tumbling and gymnastics, yoga, dancing & ballet, martial arts, karate, simple stretches

Help your children establish a regular schedule for physical activity. It’s a habit that can stick with them and help them stay healthier for a lifetime. And remember – always make it fun!
