Farm Fresh Round Up
For close to 40 years, area Farm Fresh stores have raised millions of dollars for children right here in town by supporting CHKD’s pediatric cancer program. The “Farm Fresh Round Up” campaign, historically held each year for more than fourteen years, encourages customers to contribute to the care of local children battling cancer at CHKD by rounding-up their grocery bill to the next dollar – or contributing even more.
To date, the campaign has raised more than $7.5 million dollars for the children at CHKD.
“Throughout the years, Farm Fresh has been a crucial partner in raising funds to help CHKD provide excellent care for children with cancer and continue research aimed at finding a cure,” said CHKD president and CEO Jim Dahling. “We feel honored that Farm Fresh has continued to help our hospital provide outstanding cancer care.”
CHKD follows more than 500 childhood cancer patients from across southeastern Virginia, the Virginia Eastern Shore and northeastern North Carolina. Each year, about 70 local children are newly diagnosed with some form of the deadly disease. Thanks to the help from Farm Fresh and their customers, CHKD’s oncologists can offer patients up-to-the-minute treatments through more than 50 cancer research protocols for everything from bone cancer to brain tumors.
A long-standing and valued partner of CHKD’s, Farm Fresh Food & Pharmacy is part of the nationwide SUPERVALU® INC. family of grocery stores.
