Dear (name of Hampton Roads Delegation member):

I write to ask you to vote in favor of the amendment offered by Governor McDonnell to restore funding for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in the reconvened session on April 21 and to urge your fellow Delegates/Senators to do so as well. Approval of the amendment to Item 297 involving NICU and IME funding would provide CHKD a total of $1.8 million in state funds ($900,000 in FY11 and $900,000 in FY12), allowing the hospital to continue to provide critical services and programs to the children of Hampton Roads and beyond. As the only freestanding children’s hospital in the Commonwealth and the hospital with the largest percentage of Medicaid patients in the state, CHKD is particularly sensitive to reductions in state and federal payments. Thus, approval of the amendment is critical and if adopted by the General Assembly, will also result in $1.8 million in federal matching funds over the biennium.

As a (physical, employee, member of the King's Daughters), I can attest personally to value of the unique services CHKD provides to our children.

I appreciate your service to the Commonwealth and thank you for the support you have given to CHKD in the past.

Should you have questions or need more information, please let me know.

Sincerely,
