NORFOLK, Va. – The 17th annual Radiothon raised more than $350,000 in donations for CHKD in a three-day campaign that featured patients and family members who shared stories of courage and hope.

Morning show hosts Mike Powers and Woo Woo of 94.9 The Point broadcast live from CHKD’s TowneBank Atrium, the hospital’s main lobby, in early November, showcasing patients, their families, and a host of CHKD professionals who provide everything from treatment to therapy dogs.

Volunteers from companies and organizations across the community volunteered at the phone bank from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., collecting donations that surpassed the goal of $250,000. Major support came from a vast array of community partners, including Entercom, GEICO, STIHL, Langley Federal Credit Union, Virginia Equipment and Development, plus additional sponsors, including Walmart, Elizabeth River Crossings, Cavalier Mazda, Footprints in the Sand Foundation, Freckles Graphics, Jimmy John's, Massimo Zanetti, Precision Measurements, CHUBB, Cox Communications, Fit4Mom, Jersey Mike's, Dunkin', and Chipotle.

Children and their parents also brought donations directly to the hospital. The money will be used to purchase equipment, fund research, and provide patient care programs at CHKD, including the new mental health initiative. Donations can still be made at CHKD.org/Give.
