HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Carr as chief of pediatric urology.

Dr. Carr earned his doctorate in biochemistry at Ohio State University. He received his medical degree and surgical training at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He did a residency in urology at Boston University Medical Center, followed by a pediatric urology fellowship with Harvard Medical School at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Before coming to CHKD, Dr. Carr served as associate director of pediatric urology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and then as director of pediatric urology at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.

Dr. Carr is certified by the American Board of Urology and Pediatric Urology. His clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis and management of urologic anomalies, neuropathic bladder disorders, and urinary tract infections. He is skilled in the surgical correction of hypospadias, hernia, hydroceles, penile issues, as well as complex genitourinary anomalies.

“I have been fortunate enough to train at outstanding institutions, work in world-class children's hospitals, and to spend time in an area where pediatric urology did not exist,” Dr. Carr says. “All of these experiences have galvanized my desire to advance pediatric urologic care with the best outcomes, sensitive to the needs of our region.”
