CHKD Opens Two New Facilities in Harbour View

CHKD specialty care, therapy services, and lab and radiology services have a new home in Suffolk. In an effort to consolidate services in one convenient location, two new centers recently opened adjacent to one another and combine services from several other CHKD locations in Suffolk. In addition, CHKD has expanded its services to include sports medicine physical therapy and ultrasound.

The CHKD Health Center at Harbour View, located at 5834 Harbour View Boulevard, will house specialty services including adolescent medicine, asthma, allergy and immunology, cardiology, dermatology, developmental pediatrics, gastroenterology and hepatology, Healthy You for Life weight management program, nephrology, pediatric and adolescent gynecology services, physical medicine and rehabilitation, laboratory and radiology services.

The CHKD Sports Medicine and Therapy Services, at the adjacent 5832 Harbour View Boulevard will offer sports medicine physical therapy, rehabilitative physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

The former CHKD Health Center at Harbour View will continue to house Tidewater Children’s Associates only.

CHKD’s Health Center at Burnett’s Way, Harbour View and Harbour View North have all closed.

About Herbert Bevan, MD

About Herbert  Bevan, MD Prior to joining the physician liaison staff, Bevan was a practicing hematologist and oncologist at CHKD for 28 years and served a two-year term as president of the CHKD professional staff in 2014-15. Dr. Bevan received "Top Doc" designation from Coastal Virginia Magazine in 2016 in his final year with CHKD's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. A Kansas native and University of Kansas graduate, Dr. Bevan earned his medical degree from Washington University and completed his residency and fellowships at San Diego Naval Hospital. He joined CHKD after a nine-year stint in the U.S. Navy and in his final two years in the military was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Dr. Bevan is a founding member of Children's Specialty Group.
