Our board-certified physicians provide a complete range of imaging services to four hospitals and six imaging centers in Hampton Roads. Nearly all of our 46 experienced and well-trained radiologists have completed sub-specialty fellowships, covering nine separate sub-specialty areas of imaging, allowing us to provide you with exceptional care. Our physicians are available around the clock to provide continuous expert care for our patients.
Pediatric radiologists are experts in using imaging to diagnose diseases and injuries in children of all ages. After graduating from medical school, pediatric radiologists spend five years in general radiology training, including one year of more general clinical medical training. This is followed by one or more years of additional training in pediatric radiology. Our five pediatric radiologists are each certified by the American Board of Radiology with advanced certificates specific to pediatric radiology.
Our pediatric radiologists read all imaging studies performed at CHKD outpatient facilities. We understand that children and their families have unique needs when it comes to diagnostic tests. The MCR pediatric radiologists and the staff at CHKD do their best to make children comfortable before and during their exam. They also tailor each exam to use the lowest possible radiation dose based on age and size.
