Danielle Lenz - Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at CHKD

"I am so grateful to share my practice with colleagues at CHKD - it is a very special place in a very special community. Not only have they recognized the importance and need for holistic mental health care and delivery, they have concretely responded to that need by expanding mental health services."

Bio

Danielle Lenz is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who received her psychiatric nursing training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

She has experience at a Level 1 trauma center in Indianapolis, providing mental health care and psychosocial support to individuals experiencing medical illness. She later transitioned to emergency psychiatry within the organization, working through telehealth to provide psychiatric evaluation and support to people of all ages experiencing mental health crises in emergency departments across the state.

It was in this role that Lenz witnessed the full extent of the pediatric mental health crisis and began searching for an opportunity to serve these children and their families more fully. She is thrilled to be at CHKD and is grateful to the greater community for investing so much in the well-being of its children. She is also grateful to her patients and their families - past, present, and future - for so generously sharing their journeys.

She is passionate about the arts and humanities and is a particularly voracious consumer of classic literature and graphic novels. She also enjoys playing and listening to music. She strongly believes that by engaging with stories, she has an opportunity to strengthen her empathy towards others. This practice has proven valuable both professionally and personally. When she is not reading or working, she spends a good deal of her time pampering her greyhound and meditating.
