Megan grew up in rural Piney River before moving to Vermont on a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps nursing scholarship. After graduating and commissioning in the U.S. Navy, Megan was stationed in Portsmouth. She completed three years as a bedside nurse in inpatient pediatrics before she was competitively selected for another education program in San Diego where she earned her MSN from Point Loma Nazarene University.

After graduation, Megan served as a pediatric clinical nurse specialist at Naval Medical Center San Diego where she brought crisis intervention programs to the inpatient unit and critical pediatric mental health awareness to the hospital. She returned to Portsmouth for her final active-duty tour where she again served in the inpatient pediatric and pediatric intensive care units.

With 10 years of active-duty service, Megan embarked on her new civilian career to further pursue her passion for pediatric mental healthcare. She obtained her post-master’s certificate from West Virginia University while serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve Component. Along the way, Megan discovered her interest for functional medicine and behavioral disruption management techniques. She is actively pursuing a certification in integrative mental healthcare with a focus on multiple complementary and alternative modalities: circadian rhythm, nutrition, detoxification, somatic therapies, and yoga.

In her free time, Megan can be found at the baseball and softball fields with her husband cheering on their two children. Their favorite family activities include going to the beach - specifically the Outer Banks, planning camping trips, and enjoying weekly family movie nights together. She loves spending time in her garden and with her chickens.
