Bio
Dr. Shajihan is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at CHKD with years of experience treating children with autism spectrum disorders.
Before coming to CHKD, she served as the medical director at The Watson Institute in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, for 12 years, creating programs for children with autism spectrum disorders. She also worked as a psychiatrist at The Primary Health Network, Pennsylvania’s largest federally qualified health center.
Dr. Shajihan received her medical degree from Calicut University in India and moved to the United States to pursue her dream of becoming a child psychiatrist. Dr. Shajihan completed her residency and fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she also served as chief resident in her third year of residency.
Dr Shajihan is passionate about family-centered care and equity in medicine. She enjoys interacting with children and families. She is excited to work with families in Virginia after spending 25 years in Pennsylvania.
