Bio
Dr. Henry is the medical director of psychiatry and psychology for CHKD's mental health program. He entered the mental health profession in
1987 as a childcare worker in residential and inpatient mental
health settings.
He later worked as a licensed professional counselor with adults with mental illness at the Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority in Michigan. He worked in various clinical roles there for five years, including crisis assessment, mental health care for people in jail, and case management services.
He decided to go to medical school, graduating from Wayne State University
Medical School in 2002. He did specialty training in both adult psychiatry and
child and adolescent psychiatry, and is board certified in both fields.
Dr. Henry has more than seven years of clinical psychiatric
experience. He has worked in juvenile justice centers and adult
prison systems, providing psychiatric consultation, crisis stabilization, and telehealth mental health services.
He has clinical
experience in early childhood behavioral health and with children who have
neurodevelopmental and autism-spectrum disorders.
Dr. Henry is married, has two children, and one spoiled dog. He enjoys
barbell training, cycling, woodworking, and exploring new places to eat with
his wife.
