Bio

Schafer has spent most of her career working with pediatric patients, but also has experience with adults.

After earning a bachelor's degree in deaf studies from Towson University, she received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland. She worked as a nurse for nine years, mostly in the pediatric intensive care unit, before becoming a nurse practitioner.

She began her career as a nurse practitioner at Children’s National Medical Center in pediatric oncology and then moved to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and worked in ENT caring for pediatric and adult patients.
