Bio
Margaret Shaffer grew up in Norfolk and did volunteer work at CHKD when she was in high school. She discovered she loved working with kids.
She attended the University of Virginia, and then spent time in rural villages along the Yukon River in Alaska teaching children about swimming safety, healthy life choices, and how to engage in their communities.
Then she became a nursing care partner at CHKD, working in the technology dependent intensive care unit. She decided she wanted to become a physician assistant, and enrolled in Eastern Virginia Medical School's physician assistant program. Margaret worked in plastic surgery, prior to joining the neurosurgery team at CHKD in 2023.
When she's not working, she loves running, traveling, and spending time at the beach with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
