Bio
Dr. Kauder received his high school, college, and medical education in Virginia, and completed his general surgical training in Norfolk. He then left the area to further his education in England and New Jersey where he completed a fellowship in traumatology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
After 19 years at the University of Pennsylvania, having become a professor of surgery and the vice chief of trauma and surgical critical care, he returned to Virginia. He practiced trauma surgery in Newport News for three years and then spent the past 10 years at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, serving as the trauma medical director.
Dr. Kauder retired from Mary Washington in February of 2020, and after a brief hiatus he joined the trauma surgery team at CHKD. He has dedicated his career to the research, education, and care of the severely injured and looks forward to offering his skills to help injured children in the Hampton Roads region.
