High Calorie High Protein Diet
Tips:
- Have a regular meal/snack schedule (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner)
- Do not offer food in between these times
- Try to limit distractions during meals (sit at the table, turn TV off, no toys at the table)
- Offer milk more than water
- Never force your child to eat
- Offer a variety of foods
- Make foods look attractive and fun
Ways to add calories
- Add fat to meals (butter, olive oil, cream, etc.)
- Use mayonnaise generously in sandwiches
- Add avocado to smoothies
- Put cheese on it
- Choose full fat dairy

Snacks are a great way to add extra calories into your child’s diet. Aim to offer three meals and two snacks per day.
- Tortilla or chips with guacamole
- Banana or apple with peanut butter
- Yogurt parfait (whole milk yogurt with fruit and granola)
- Trail mix
- Tuna salad with crackers
- Cheese and crackers
- Peanut butter and jelly sandwich
- Egg salad with crackers
- Pediasure
- Oatmeal with whole milk
