Newborn Weight Conversion Chart

(757) 668-7000

A child's weight can be measured in pounds and ounces or grams. Most parents are used to the pounds and ounces scale. However, at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters the Grams scale is used for measuring weight.

To read the chart, go across the pound column to your child's weight in pounds. Next, go down the ounce column to the correct number of ounces. To find the weight in grams, draw an imaginary line down the pounds' column and across the ounces' column. The number where these lines meet is the weight in grams. For example, a weight of 2 pounds and 0 ounces is the same as 907 grams.
