CHKD’s hematology and oncology inpatient unit was designed to help families feel as comfortable as possible while their child goes through treatment. The unit has 16 private rooms, all designed specifically for family-centered care, and to provide the safest and best possible environment for our kids. The unit has its own playroom and a beautiful nourishment room for the families so they can feel a little bit of normalcy while they’re in the hospital. In addition, each room is under positive pressure which helps to prevent our immunocompromised patients from getting sick.
