Dr. Mackey Joins CHKD Neurosurgery

CHKD welcomes Dr. Kimberly Mackey to its pediatric neurosurgery practice. Dr. Mackey completed her residency at the University of Pittsburgh and her fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

She has a particular interest in international surgery and the advancement of pediatric neurosurgery in the developing world, having worked in Kenya, Uganda, South and Southeast Asia.

Dr. Mackey's clinical interests include pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, craniosynostosis, endoscopic techniques for brain surgery, pediatric neurotrauma, epilepsy, and pediatric spine conditions.

About Herbert Bevan, MD

Prior to joining the physician liaison staff, Bevan was a practicing hematologist and oncologist at CHKD for 28 years and served a two-year term as president of the CHKD professional staff in 2014-15. Dr. Bevan received "Top Doc" designation from Coastal Virginia Magazine in 2016 in his final year with CHKD's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. A Kansas native and University of Kansas graduate, Dr. Bevan earned his medical degree from Washington University and completed his residency and fellowships at San Diego Naval Hospital. He joined CHKD after a nine-year stint in the U.S. Navy and in his final two years in the military was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Dr. Bevan is a founding member of Children's Specialty Group.
