Dr. Reed was born in Santiago, Chile, but has lived most of his life in the United States.

Before studying medicine, he earned his bachelor's degree in science at the University of California at San Diego and his Master's of Public Health at UCLA.

His medical training took him to Washington, D.C., California, Colorado, and South Carolina.  He now makes his home in Virginia beach with his wife and their two children.
