Bio
Dr. Chagnon comes from upstate New York, where she developed her
passion for children with disabilities at an early age.
From volunteer work to employment as a
residential aide at a school for children with multiple disabilities, she was
inspired to pursue her medical degree to address the health needs of special
populations.
Dr. Chagnon graduated from the University of Rochester
School of Medicine and Dentistry and furthered her training at Children’s
Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she completed her residency and fellowship in
child neurology and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
While at Children’s Hospital of
Pittsburgh, Dr. Chagnon participated in the Program for Neurodegenerative and
Rare Disorders, as well as the Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental
Disabilities program. She also participated in multiple subspecialty clinics,
allowing her to expand her knowledge and experience with a number of childhood
neurological disorders. She was involved
in a number of clinical research trials on the treatment and prognosis of
umbilical cord transplantations in lysosomal storage disorders.
Dr. Chagnon’s clinical practice is focused on the full range
of pediatric neurological disorders.
On a personal note, Dr. Chagnon and her husband have a
toddler daughter and a rowdy labrador retriever. After too many years in the
cold northeast, they are enjoying exploring all that the Hampton Roads region
has to offer.
