Bio
Dr. Rowland, a Pittsburgh native, received her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and stayed at Mayo for pediatric residency before moving to Virginia to escape the long winters.
At the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Rowland was taught that the needs of the patient come first and witnessed the benefits of collaboration among specialties. She feels grateful to be a part of CHKD with outstanding pediatric experts, where she can work in the tradition of putting families first. Dr. Rowland loves
watching kids grow up and offering comfort and guidance in sorting through the mess of medical information in this digital age. She knows that families need a pediatrician they can trust, and she takes that responsibility seriously.
Dr. Rowland is married to a physician and has three children who teach her more about pediatrics than she could ever learn in books, bring her more happiness than she thought possible, and make sure to remind her that she doesn’t know everything. She works with the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy
of Pediatrics leading outreach to schools, and enjoys hiking, running, biking, reading, and the outdoors.
In addition, Dr. Rowland is also an assistant professor at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences EVMS at Old Dominion University.

A Note from Dr. Rowland
“I am fortunate that my colleagues at Pediatric Specialists not only share my love for children but also the desire to offer outstanding, evidence-based medical care. It's an honor and a joy to take care of children and families -- I still feel I have the best job in the world, second only to being a mom.“
