Bio
Since grade school, Baker knew she either wanted to be either a nurse, pediatrician or teacher. As time went on, she discovered a career in nursing would incorporate components of all three careers.
Upon graduating from Florida A&M, she began her career as a nurse at CHKD, working on the surgical unit on the seventh floor for 16 years.
Wanting to provide primary and secondary prevention, she returned to school to obtain a masters in public health from Drexel University and continued to provide direct patient care at CHKD. She then worked in public health for eight years, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.
Recognizing her passion for pediatric medicine, she pursued a degree as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner, which truly encompassed her childhood dream of being a nurse, pediatrician and a teacher.
