Bio

Dr. Charugundla is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in CHKD's Plastic and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery program

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Charugundla earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California in Los Angeles, and then received a master's degree in environmental health and sciences from the same university.

After working in unrelated fields, Dr. Charugundla discovered his passion for dentistry. He  attended the University of California in San Francisco, receiving his doctor of dental surgery degree in 2017.

He then spent a year at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Moving on, he completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he trained under world renowned surgeons Dr. Edward Ellis, III, and Dr. Daniel Perez.

While his oral and maxillofacial surgery training is broad, he has a special interest in surgical management of malocclusions (bad bites), temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ), and obstructive sleep apnea.

He loves the transformational nature of these surgeries and believes in the integral connections of the physical body, mind, and energy.  He is excited to create relationships with his patients so he can explore these connections with them and help guide them to achieving holistic health.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Charugundla has a strong interest in the culinary arts, spending time outside, reading, writing, and meditating. It is important for him to build a relationship with these hobbies and believes life experiences and nature are the best teachers.

Dr. Charugundla encourages you to share your hobbies and passions with him!
