Bio

Before coming to CHKD in 2019, Smith provided clinical services to children and families in several treatment programs for over 35 years. Her clinical work ranged from being a family counselor with the juvenile court to being an outpatient clinician specializing in abuse and neglect to developing and directing community and residential treatment programs in the Hampton Roads area.

She has always had a passion to work with children and families but especially military families as she understands the challenges for these families due to the military lifestyle. As part of the CHKD Mental Health team, she provides mental health evaluations and assists patients and families in identifying the appropriate resources to match with their identified needs.

In her leisure time, she enjoys walking, genealogy, volunteering in the community and Little League softball, and time with family, friends, and her dog.
