Back in high school, I tore my anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus when I collided with another player during a soccer game against Kellam. I was a junior at the time, playing soccer for Landstown High School. When I got hurt, I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to play in college, which is what I had been looking forward to for years.

My doctor at CHKD, Dr. Allison Tenfelde, was amazing through the whole process. She trusted me to know my own body and we worked out a plan together to help my progression and training.

My journey to recovery began with surgery. I had to wear a locked brace from my hip to my ankle that slowly became unlocked after a couple of weeks. That’s when I started rehab and strength training with the physical therapy team at CHKD. Rehab was critical to my returning to the field.

My physical therapists were amazing. They became my best friends. They pushed me harder than anybody else could, harder than I knew I could. The gym at CHKD has a super happy atmosphere and there were a ton of kids my age striving to be healthy.

I’m doing really well now. I’m back to playing soccer regularly. I’d recommend CHKD physical therapy to anyone recovering from a sports injury. They’ll definitely get you to where you want to be. The facilities at CHKD have a ton of equipment to work every body part and speed up recovery time.
