Limit Screen Time
TV’s, computers, phones, tablets, gaming devices. Screens of all shapes and sizes compete for our kids’ attention. In fact, children today spend as many as seven hours a day in front of a screen!
It may be hard to avoid, but excessive screen time can lead to difficulty sleeping, anxiety or attention disorders, and even obesity.
Here are a few simple tips to put all that media to good use without overdoing it:
- Limit screen time to two hours per day. Children under 2 should have no screen time at all.
- Create screen-free zones in the house and avoid having TV’s or computers in kids’ bedrooms.
- Set a good example by limiting screen exposure for yourself.
- Schedule screen-free family game nights and outings.
