Time for a Physical
Summer break is a great time to get your child’s wellness check. And if your child is going to start a new school in the fall they probably need an up-to-date physical, especially if they’re going to play a sport.
Get Your Child's Physical Up-to-date Before School Starts
During the physical, the doctor will:
- Review medical history
- Check height and weight
- Take blood pressure
- Listen to heart and lungs
- Feel around the abdomen
- Look in ears, nose and throat
- Check eyesight
- Test strength and flexibility
The physical is also a great opportunity for you to talk to the doctor about any medical questions you may have regarding your child, like an old injury or other health concern.
Children should be seen by their regular pediatrician for sports and camp physicals to ensure the exam is comprehensive and the child's complete medical history is available. To find a CHKD pediatrician near you, visit CHKD.org/pediatricians, or call (757) 668-7500.
