CHKD’s outpatient pharmacy, located on the first floor of our main hospital offers the following services:  

Patient, Family and Employee Prescription Services

• New prescriptions filled for anyone in the family.
• Patient discharge prescriptions.
• Prescription refills, with easy online ordering.
  
  

Compounding and Specialty Pharmacy Services

• Improve medication taste with kid-friendly flavoring.
• Formulate medications free of allergens or dyes.
• Create diet-specific formulations to improve care.
• Consultation with the prescribing physician to adjust dosages or formulations to address specific needs.
• Assistance with high-cost or difficult-to-obtain medications.
  
  

Vaccine Administration 

• Offering vaccine administration as allowable by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
• Routine and seasonal vaccines.
• Special vaccines recommended for travel.
• Vaccine availability may be limited. If you are in need of a specific vaccine, call us first.
  
  

Safe Drug Disposal

To prevent prescription drug abuse, accidental ingestion, and to keep our surface and groundwater free of contaminants, we offer a free year-round drug take-back program. Return your unused or expired prescriptions in the big green bin inside our pharmacy labeled "Safe Drug Disposal." 

Parking Info 

Pharmacy guests should use the visitor parking garage across from the front entrance to the hospital. Quick pick-up spots with a 15-minute limit may be available in front of the hospital.
