CHKD's Community Outreach program offers a variety of educational programs and resources for parents, grandparents, coaches, professionals, community members, children, and youth to optimize development and increase health and well-being for children and families in our region and beyond.
Meet Our Community Outreach Team
Sandra "Sam" Fabian, Community Outreach and Engagement Manager
Sam manages the CHKD community outreach and engagement department and is responsible for the Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan. She develops and/or coordinates CHKD conferences, special events, mental health education and outreach, and collaborates with stakeholders, community boards and coalitions. Additionally, she co-chairs the Youth Sports Mental Health & Wellness Alliance; and develops programmatic partnerships with local schools, recreation centers, sports clubs and civic organizations.

Michele Tryon, Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator
Michele conducts and coordinates professional and parent workshops, webinars, trainings and classes. She collaborates with healthcare, school and community partners to promote best practice in parent and professional education. She co-chairs the Hampton Roads Parenting Education Network (HRPEN) and is an active member of the South Hampton Roads Youth Partnership executive committee, and the Hampton Roads Trauma Informed Community Network's steering committee.
