Dr. Reed was born in Santiago, Chile, but has lived most of his life in the United States.

Before studying medicine, he earned his bachelor's degree in science at the University of California at San Diego and his Master's of Public Health at UCLA.

His medical training took him to Washington, D.C., California, Colorado, and South Carolina.  He now makes his home in Virginia Beach with his wife and their two children.

Finding Her Own Pace

When Amaryana Harden's school nurse discovered that the 7-year-old's heart rate was alarmingly slow, she was transported to the CHKD Heart Center where Dr. John Reed identified and corrected the girl's rare disorder.

The cardiology team at CHKD care for children from birth through age 18. Patients over the age of 18 may be seen in our adult congenital heart disease clinic. Fetal echocardiography and counseling is offered in our prenatal clinic.
