Personal Statement
Having experienced CHKD as a medical student, resident, physician, and parent, I have grown to appreciate CHKD’s devotion to teaching and caring for not only children, but also whole families and the future generations of physicians. I find great joy in working with such amazing and devoted physicians, nurses, and staff. I am humbled and honored to play a role in the health and success of all our patients.
Bio
Dr. Drewes grew up in Reston, VA, and attended the College of William and Mary, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. During his summers, he had the opportunity work at the National Cancer Institute and assist in a gene therapy study involving childhood leukemia. Following college, Dr. Drewes attended Eastern Virginia Medical School. Impressed with the care provided at CHKD and CHKD's strong dedication to families, Dr. Drewes completed his residency there.
During his time as chief resident and the following year, Dr. Drewes served as an attending physician in the emergency department, and cared for newborns in various local area nurseries. He is now part of the dedicated pediatrics team at Tidewater Children’s Associates.
In his spare time, Dr. Drewes enjoys cooking, reading, and studying films, particularly the films of Orson Wells. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife and sons.
