Personal Statement

Working at CHKD gives us the opportunity to serve our community by providing compassionate and evidence-based treatment to our children and families.

Bio

Jaclyn grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia and has lived in the area for her whole life. She decided to pursue a career in mental health, specifically therapy, because she enjoys being around people and is naturally drawn to helping others and hearing their experiences.

Jaclyn’s clinical interests include crisis work, anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment and life transitions that adolescents experience. She works with Virginia Beach Public Schools in their partnership program with CHKD and enjoys getting to collaborate with school counselors, as well as parents and other CHKD providers, in caring for kids and teens.

Jaclyn chose to work at CHKD because she is passionate about working with children and teens and wanted to work in a setting where she would be involved in a community of providers who collaborate to serve families.

Outside of work, Jaclyn enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, reading, going to the beach, being outdoors, and traveling.
