Personal Statement

CHKD provides high quality patient care with a team-based approach. The Nephrology team's warm welcoming, family-like environment has been a significant factor in my career satisfaction with CHKD. I am privileged to be working alongside these amazing providers.

Bio

Kacie Carter grew up in Waco, Texas, where she began her nursing journey in 2016. Her inspiration to work in pediatric healthcare came from a close family friend, Byron “Bubba” Hare, who was diagnosed with Juvenile Huntington’s Disease. Byron passed in 2019, leaving her with lasting lessons about living life for the Lord, getting back up after being knocked down, and always loving “more.”

Kacie completed her undergraduate degree at Tarleton State University before obtaining her MSN from Spring Arbor University. Although her professional experience began in Texas, she later explored the West Coast as a travel nurse before finding her way to Virginia in 2021. Shortly after joining CHKD Nephrology as a Clinic Nurse, her passion for the patient population flourished. She went on to gain experience across various aspects of the specialty by assisting in Peritoneal Dialysis, volunteering on medical mission trips, and serving as both an acute/chronic Hemodialysis Nurse and a Transplant Coordinator, all prior to stepping into her current position as a Nurse Practitioner.

In her free time, Kacie enjoys playing pickleball with her wife, tackling DIY projects, and spending time with her five fur babies.
