Personal Statement
I chose to return to CHKD because I firmly believe in the non-profit model of healthcare for all children, and I love that CHKD has an incredible network of specialists to provide the best care possible for even the most complex patients.
Bio
Growing up in Oklahoma, Laura wanted to be a meteorologist or a doctor. She fell in love with food science, public health, and preventive care while in college, which led her to become a dietitian. She enjoys the challenge and flexibility of changing specialties as a dietitian.
Laura previously worked at CHKD from 2018-2022 as a coordinator for the King’s Daughters Milk Bank. Today, she has a focus in challenging weight stigma in healthcare and harmful "diet culture" dialogue. She cares deeply about policies and community supports that shape health behaviors, specifically healthy food choices within the context of food deserts and food insecurity.
Laura has four children and her favorite pastimes are competitive trivia and logic puzzles.
