Personal Statement

I believe that every child and family deserves a therapeutic space where they feel supported, especially during times of hardship. I chose to work at CHKD because of its strong sense of community and the ongoing growth of its mental health program. I’ve been fortunate to work in various departments within CHKD’s mental health program, and I’ve seen personal growth through the wide variety of roles I’ve taken on. It has been the best journey so far!

Bio

Meghan is from a military family who settled in Chesapeake, Virginia when Meghan started middle school. She now considers herself a Virginia Beach native.

Meghan found her passion for working in mental health care during her college years. She attended Tidewater Community College for her associate’s degree and Radford University for her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Her clinical interests include crisis work, parent work, depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, ADHD, autism, and trauma.

Meghan started at CHKD as a referral specialist in the outpatient department, then moved into a hybrid therapist role between working at CHKD’s inpatient hospital and outpatient department. Today, Meghan works in our intensive outpatient program.

Meghan is an avid runner, traveler, and beach goer. When she is not working, she is spending time with her family and friends or walking on the beach at sunset with her dog, Winnie.
