Bio

Dr. Shannon Bush grew up in Miami, Florida. She completed her undergraduate degree in human biology at the University of Virginia. This interdisciplinary degree examines the intersection of the life sciences and their impact on society through ethics, culture, and the humanities. This was where Dr. Bush became interested in understanding the biological, psychological, and social factors that shape mental health and what eventually lead her to child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Bush completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Maryland-Sheppard Pratt program in Baltimore, Maryland. She developed a passion for working with children and teenagers, especially those who have experienced trauma or who are struggling with acute and chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Bush moved here with her husband, a Newport News native. Together they enjoy taking scenic drives and exploring local historic sites, spending time with friends and family, and hanging out with their dog and cat.
