Personal Statement
During my time in primary care, I began working in urgent care. Seeing the pediatric patients, I found I really enjoyed the pace and different style of care. I enjoy seeing the kids and meeting them on their level to make them comfortable.
Bio
Lucas began her career in pediatrics at St. Mary's Hospital for Children in Queens, NY, as a home care nurse, at which point she decided to pursue a family nurse practitioner degree.
She has been a family nurse practitioner in primary care for the past 15 years, with special interests in children with disabilities, the medically fragile, and patients with asthma. She is a certified asthma educator as well as a certified lactation counselor.
A lifelong New Yorker, Lucas grew up just outside of New York City. She moved to Hampton Roads in 2017 with her husband and daughter after accepting her position with CHKD Urgent Care. She has three dogs and a cat, loves being outside and active, and enjoys cooking and baking, reading, and entertaining.
