Outpatient Infusion Program
CHKD's Outpatient Infusion Program offers services that do not require overnight, or inpatient
hospitalization. We care for children and
adolescents who need IV therapy with many different health conditions,
including immune, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, neurology,
rheumatology, and renal disorders.
Our Team
Our expert infusion team consists of nursing care partners, patient data specialists, registered nurses, and a medical director. Our registered nurses all possess excellent IV skills and special
training in administering infusions. Many of our nurses carry nationally recognized pediatric certifications.
Where We See Patients
In Norfolk, we are located at the main hospital. We have a child life specialist available and iPads to play games.
We have a cafeteria, vending machines, a
gift shop, and a coffee shop on the first floor of the hospital.
We also see patients in Virginia Beach at our CHKD Health and Surgery Center at Concert Drive. Our clinic there is a spacious, open area that
allows nurses the ability to provide care while patients explore in our
relaxed, safe, and fun environment. We
have a gaming station for children to interact
and play video games with others.
We also have a microwave and refrigerator for patient use and there is a vending machine on site.
Treatment times may vary, which is why we encourage
you to bring your snacks, meals, favorite blanket, and/or pillow.
Family-centered Care
We support family-centered care and encourage one family member to remain with their child during treatment. Due to our environment and for the safety of all, we ask that all other children remain at home during your child’s visit.
