As an accredited facility, CHKD meets the highest standards of care, supporting its mission to provide Health, Healing, and Hope to All Children.
Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), CHKD Laboratories perform routine and specialized testing for children and teens using advanced technology, with a focus on quality, timely results, and personalized service.
CAP accreditation is internationally recognized as a benchmark for excellence in laboratory medicine, reflecting CHKD’s commitment to accuracy, safety, and improved patient outcomes. CHKD Laboratories are among more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
A team of CAP inspectors conducted a comprehensive review of laboratory operations, including quality processes, staff qualifications, equipment, and safety programs. The team praised CHKD staff for their strong commitment to quality and safety across all locations.
Each member of the laboratory team meets certification requirements from the American Society for Clinical Pathology and participates in ongoing training, competency assessments, and education. Staff are also trained in age-appropriate communication to help put children at ease.
