U.S. News & World Report Ranks CHKD Cardiac Collaborative 20th in the Nation

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative, CHKD’s partnership with University of Virginia Children’s hospital, one of the best cardiology and heart surgery programs in the country.

The publication’s 2022-23 “Best Children’s Hospitals” guide ranked the collaborative No. 20 among the top 50 pediatric cardiology and heart surgery programs in the nation.

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals guide identifies hospitals providing the highest-quality care for children with the most serious or complicated healthcare needs. The rankings are based on several factors, including patient outcomes, the availability of specialized clinics and programs, patient safety measures, and a national survey of pediatric specialists.

Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative was formed in 2017 and combines the efforts of pediatric cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, intensive care physicians, and cardiac support professionals from CHKD and UVA with the goal of improving outcomes for children with complex congenital heart defects.
