Personal Statement

I currently work at the Fetal Diagnostic and Treatment Center, where I support families navigating a diagnosis of fetal anomalies. I walk alongside them through the pediatric healthcare system before and after delivery. I'm passionate about family- and patient-centered care, breaking down barriers in healthcare, and improving outcomes through early diagnosis. Every day, I feel grateful to collaborate with an incredible team of healthcare professionals, including my colleagues in maternal-fetal medicine, labor and delivery, neonatology, and various pediatric subspecialties. It truly takes a team, and I'm lucky to work with some of the very best.

Bio

Amanda is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia. With over a decade of experience in pediatric healthcare, she brings a compassionate, family-centered approach to her practice — shaped in part by her personal journey as a mother of three, including a child with a rare genetic syndrome.

Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University and began her career at CHKD as a bedside nurse. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Virginia, graduating in 2013 as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. For ten years, she specialized in pediatric surgery and trauma before transitioning into her current role.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, their three children, and their Goldendoodle, Lemon.
