Bio
Dejie John, MD, was born and raised in Trichur, Kerala, India and graduated from Government Medical College Thrissur in her hometown.From there, Dr. John traveled across the globe to the U.S. for residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She then went on to do a fellowship in developmental pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Later, she found a passion for primary care in a community setting while practicing in Corbin, Kentucky for 13 years, and again in Fayetteville and Jacksonville North Carolina for nine years. Now that her children are grown and off to college, she has found the time to provide pediatric care on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Dr. John found the perfect opportunity to work those hours at CHKD’s Urgent Care Center in Newport News. She is excited to be part of a skilled, professional team dedicated to improving children’s health and their well-being.
When she’s not at work, Dr. John enjoys spending time with family and friends and is active in her church. She starts her day with a jog, swim, or yoga, and is a proponent of daily exercise and healthy living. She also loves to travel and learn about different cultures.
