Personal Statement

What makes CHKD stand out is how everyone truly cares — not just about treating kids, but about supporting families through the ups and downs. It’s a place where compassion meets expertise, and where hope is just as important as medicine.

Bio

Joellen Quanty, a Norfolk native, pursued a career in medicine drawn by its ever-evolving complexity and a deep, lifelong drive to help others — especially pediatric patients. She is passionate about delivering compassionate, community-focused care and is committed to treating every patient with dignity and respect. This dedication is what led Joellen to choose CHKD, where she can be part of a mission that aligns with her own values and love for her hometown community.

Outside of her work in medicine, Joellen has been happily married for 14 years and is the proud mom of two daughters. Her home is filled with love and a few beloved four-legged companions, including two rescue pit bulls, Nelson and Tuna, and a rescue guinea pig named Lime. In her free time, Joellen enjoys browsing bookstores (and admittedly spending too much on books and vinyl records), going to the beach, rock painting, running, and practicing hot yoga. She brings the same warmth, curiosity, and energy to her personal life as she does to her work with patients and families.
