PICU Family and Visitor Rules
- Always use Purell (hand sanitizer) when entering and exiting your child’s room.
- Shift change occurs between 6:30 and 7:30 every morning and evening. To protect patient privacy and to promote safe communication, visitors are asked not to enter or exit during these times. Please plan meals and breaks accordingly.
- Up to 6 visitors (including parents and guardians), 6 Siblings and 2 Clergy will be permitted on your visitor list. Only individuals on your list will be allowed into the unit. This list may only be modified one time during your child’s stay. Hospital visiting hours are from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. These hours do not apply to parents or guardians who may visit at any time.
- Only one person over the age of 18 is allowed to stay in the room overnight.
- No visitor food is allowed at your child’s bedside. You may eat or store food in the family lounge. All food and beverages stored in the family lounge must be labeled with date/time and room number. Daily refrigerator and freezer cleaning is instituted and unlabeled items may be disposed of. Beverages with lids are permitted. The cafeteria is located on the first floor of the hospital.
- Loitering or making phone calls in the hallway is not permitted. To protect patient privacy, please remain at your child’s bedside when visiting. Staff will escort you to other areas of the unit, as needed.
